Belgian Police Launches Campaign Against Homophobia Ugandan Lesbian

In Belgium homophobia is a reality. A survey conducted in Brussels revealed that 60% of LGBT people in this country has been subjected to verbal and 10% were beaten by their preference sexual.
The problem is that this reality is ignored because the victims do not file complaints because they think that doing so will not help and the police, sexism or homophobia, do not attend well. "Many are unaware that these facts warrant criminal sanctions, and especially that homophobia is an aggravating factor in Belgium", explains Bruno de Lille, Secretary of State for Equal Opportunities program.
For this reason, the Brussels-Capital Region has decided to launch an awareness campaign to reduce the problem. "The first goal we have is to foster a culture of reporting," says de Lille, who adds that this will have better statistics in the police barracks. "The police officers involved said they were surprised us because people misjudged and that want to join the campaign, an image of respect and openness."
As part of the campaign, also has an exhibition of posters with speeches against homophobia in Halles Saint-Géry, which may be accessed until 30 May. "The exhibition consists of works by 20 artists from the street that addressed the issues facing the gay, bisexual, transgender and lesbian from Belgium, which will then be applied to other regions of the country," end of Lille.
